Thousand Autumns explores the idea of whether or not human nature is good through the journey of Shen Qiao and Yan Wushi. Similar to how the world isn't only depicted in black or white, human nature is subjective because there isn't a right or wrong way to go about it. In order to prove his point, Yan WuShi follows Shen Qiao on his journey to see how far he can push the so call righteous man, before he would succumb to the evils of human nature. Yan Wushi doesn't believe that there isn't anyone who possesses kindness, righteousness, and such selflessness that they would not ask for anything in return. Shen Qiao's fall from grace was witnessed by Yan Wushi, leader of the demonic Huanyue sect.
